Janis Goodman has worked as a printmaker in Yorkshire for the last fifteen years.
Much of her work has been produced in printmaking classes at Leeds College of Art and Design and she has recently set up her own etching studio . Originally trained in Architecture, much of her work is focused on the structure of inner city Leeds, where she now lives. She is as fascinated by the repetitive patterns formed by roofs, walls and chimney pots as by plants, birds and trees. An interest in texture and mark making gives her work its strength, beyond the simply illustrative. The prints have been described as "witty, touching and very desirable."

This year she has exhibited her work in a solo show at Leeds Craft and Design Gallery, "Applause in the Print" at Rye Art Gallery and in other shows in Masham. She has a print in the 6th International Miniature Print Exhibition 2006/7. Other exhibitions include a joint show "Come Up and See Our Etchings" at Leeds Central Library's Artspace; the 2002 Second Biennial International Miniature Print Exhibition, juried exhibition, Vancouver, BC,Canada; the "URBAN" selected exhibition in York City Art Gallery 2001; solo show in Borders Bookshop, Leeds 2000.

She was Artist in Residence at Burton Agnes Hall, near Bridlington in 1996, 1999 and 2004. In 2004 she and the writer Kath Mackay were awarded an Arts Council Award for "Open Wide" - her work which was made within that project can be seen under " Serendipity and teeth".

The website is intended as a point of contact for people who may wish to commission work directly; a permanent gallery for sales of her limited edition prints and hand-made cards ; and a stimulating set of images for people intrigued by the complex processes of printmaking.
