"I am fascinated by the ever-changing light and moods of the coast. I aim to convey the vastness of the sea and sky through my drawings and paintings, working outside as much as possible." Clare has exhibited her paintings in group and solo shows nationally, and has work in private collections both here and abroad. She has been featured in "International Artist" and "Pastel Artist International" magazines. Clare's work first appeared in May 2004 in Bianco Nero in her exhibition 'DAY IN, DAY OUT', which was Clare's first solo show in Yorkshire. Clare studied drawing and painting at Edinburgh College of Art in the early '90s before going on to teach both in schools and leading workshops in the North East. She is based in Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear and the North East coastline inspires most of her work. Since graduating, she has had numerous group and solo shows both in the North East and in London. She has also won several awards for her paintings including the Derwent Prize and the Dover Prize. |
