"Printmaking opened a whole new rich seam of creativity for me. I had been creatively dormant for several years and I will never forget how I felt after my first printmaking workshop. I was so excited about the possibilities for experimentation. I have spent the following years learning as much as I can about printmaking and experimenting with its different media often combining them with very different results.

The main media I use are monoprinting and collagraphs sometimes combined with photo etching and etching. I love the immediacy of monoprinting as a spontaneous response to the landscape. Monoprinting suits my love of colour and I particularly enjoy using painterly techniques to create atmosphere.

Sometimes I work from a remembered image in an attempt to capture the drama, colours and shapes of the image brought to mind. At other times I work from sketches and photographs as a mode of reference to recall in more detail patterns, shapes and textures that occur in nature. My work is also influenced by my training in graphic design where my interest lay in simplifying information to the bare essentials to construct a pleasing image."

Recent exhibitions have included The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle, The Art Café in Corbridge. Her work is held in collections in Ireland, Hong Kong and the UK. She is also a visiting Lecturer at The University of Newcastle upon Tyne for The Centre for Lifelong Learning (University of Sunderland).
