Hanne Westergaard

Hanne studied ceramics in Denmark before going on to teach ceramics in Copenhagen and then Rotherham. She makes vessels and vases. Vessels to stand empty, and vases and planters to suit different types of flowers and plants. Making pots is a vital part of her being and she gets some inspiration from walking on the moors and near the sea, looking at the ever changing light, and the rhythms in patterns in nature. Recently she has done some soda/wood firings and gets inspiration from the quirky results from the ashes and vapour from the soda.

Her work is in several important collections both in the UK and Denmark. She has also had several solo exhibitions including at the Royal Danish Embassy in London, the Cupola Gallery in Sheffield and the Rufford Craft Centre.
